One way that you can increase the power handling capacity of a resistor is by using an element that can withstand higher temperatures. Another way that you can do this is by using the same element but limiting the amount of temperature that it sees at a certain power. Check out KOA’s wide terminal resistors like WK-73R and WK73S.
